Research
Research in a museum combines curatorial endeavour and work on the history of the collection with questions on the theory and practice of this institution. A museum’s operations, its collecting and exhibiting activities provide an empirical platform for both scholarly and experimental research approaches and projects which, in particular, place the focus on the future of the museum. Museum Folkwang welcomes opportunities to exchange views and is open to collaborative research projects. Simultaneously, it creates its own formats designed to develop the museum as a forum for international interaction between those engaged in the cultural sector and researchers.
Education
The education department has an important role at Museum Folkwang. Expanded workshops and seminar rooms allow a wide-ranging education program. With the aim of making the Museum Folkwang a center of lively discussion and exchange on art, culture and life, the program is directed especially towards children and families, teachers and pupils, youths and students. Parallel to this, an extensive program of guided tours and events await adult visitors.
