Its exhibition programme is steered by an interest in latest phenomena in art, and by articulating them to audiences with skill and courage, the museum makes a significant social impact. The museum exhibitions make the very latest contemporary art available to the public while also conducting pioneering work in audience engagement, research and collection development. All of the museum’s activities are defined by an attitude of experimentation, research and constant search for the new.

Pori Art Museum has a background in the tradition of modern art but is focused in its exhibitions and publications on contemporary art. Museum’s profile has been characterized by environmental issues site specific art, identities, human rights and society—the dialogue between the individual and culture, between the local and the global.
