Sixth edition

Art Düsseldorf presents itself as a dynamic hub for the art scene in its sixth edition. The fair offers carefully curated insights into the significant artistic developments of our time and will continue to act as a vibrant meeting place for the art world in 2024.

More than 100 galleries: The current edition of Art Düsseldorf showcases 105 galleries, marking a substantial growth compared to the previous year. Among them, 34 galleries join for the first time, including Meyer Riegger (Berlin), Kewenig (Berlin, Palma de Mallorca), Dirimart (Istanbul), and Plus-One Gallery (Antwerp). 71 galleries are returning for another participation, including well-known names such as Galerie Thomas Schulte (Berlin), Galerie Michael Haas (Berlin), and Konrad Fischer (Düsseldorf, Berlin).

This year, there are 30 galleries from Düsseldorf and Cologne. Galleries based in Berlin are just as strongly represented: 24 galleries reflect the rich art scene of the capital, including KOW, Dittrich & Schlechtriem, and Galerie Friese. 

The list is further enhanced by 40 galleries with international locations representing countries such as Austria, Turkey, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the USA, India, Sweden, Belgium, Great Britain, Portugal, and France. Notable participants include Emami Art (Kolkata), Carolina Nitsch (New York), Gallery Krinzinger (Vienna), Tatjana Pieters (Ghent), and Steve Turner (Los Angeles).

The outstanding line-up confirms the excellent reputation of Art Düsseldorf  as a lively stage for young as well as established positions on the cutting edge. 

Works by artists such as Marina Abramović, Julius von Bismarck, Ulla von Brandenburg, Julian Charrière, Willem de Kooning, Karin Kneffel, Konrad Klappheck, Joep van Liefland, Heinz Mack, Bettina Pousttchi, Troika, or Jürgen Staeck have been announced.

As last year, the fair sections are once again called Main, Next, Solo Projects, and Joint.

The Next section caters to galleries with less than ten years of activity, focusing on younger artists. The Joint section allows galleries to present their work cooperatively. The Solo Projects present outstanding artists addressing the central focal themes of the year 2024: Photography & Identity, Retromania, Future Bodies. These focal themes are also reflected in the fair’s talk program.

For the first time this year, a team of curators, Laura Helena Wurth (Deutschlandfunk Kultur) and Alexander Wilmschen (Kestner Gesellschaft), will select and present the highly popular Sculpture Spots, showcasing sculptures with museum standards and dimensions.

Art Düsseldorf is not the only reason to come to the Rhineland this spring. It is embedded in the rich offerings of the state capital as a historically significant place and is also supported by a close network of galleries, museums, and collections.
